Harrison Ford Really Liked Solo: A Star Wars Story

Harrison Ford wasn’t as eager to provide public commentary on Solo: A Star Wars Story as some expected, but his overall reaction to the movie was overwhelmingly positive, according to director Ron Howard.

During his recent appearance in an episode of the Lights Camera Barstool podcast, Howard said Ford was really involved in helping Alden Ehrenreich find his feet after being given the impossible task of portraying one of the most iconic characters in all of cinema. That celebrity status is largely a result of Harrison Ford’s charismatic portrayal, which is why recasting the character always seemed like a nigh-on-impossible task, Howard opinioned.

The director never had any doubts about adding Ford to the consulting staff for the movie for those exact reasons. Solo: A Star Wars Story earned over $390 million on a budget estimated to be in the ballpark of $250-300 million. As such, it was a commercial success, but not a particularly prominent note in the history of the franchise.

Still, Ehrenreich’s performance and those of other cast members like Donald Glover were mostly praised by both critics and audiences alike. Disney itself is still dead-set on producing numerous Star Wars prequels, including a number of serialized entries intended to release on Disney+.
