Review: CoolStream Duo – Bluetooth Music Receiver

Bluetooth speakers are certainly all the rage right now.  But what do you do with your older, 30-pin compatible speakers?

Throwing them out just doesn’t make sense.  The CoolStream Duo allows you to turn that old 30-pin compatible speaker into a wireless Bluetooth speaker.  You can also use the Duo to make the speakers in your car Bluetooth wireless or your home stereo too.  Sounds good doesn’t it?  Want to see more of the CoolStream Duo – Bluetooth Music Receiver?  Check out my full review below.

Read on through for my full review and be sure to catch the video at the end of the review for a more up close and personal look at the CoolStream Duo – Bluetooth Music Receiver.

Inside the packaging you’ll find the receiver along an AUX cable and a set of instructions.

Here’s what CoolStream has to say about the Duo – Bluetooth Music Receiver.

CoolStream Duo – Bluetooth Music Receiver with Twice the Options:

The CoolStream Duo can connect to your audio equipment with its 30 Pin Connector or with its 3.5mm Auxiliary Jack. Two options for wireless music!

Quickly connect to our Bluetooth adapter and stream music from any smartphone or tablet to a iPhone docking station, home audio system, boombox or car stereo.

No matter if you have an iPhone 5, iPad or Samsung Galaxy you can stream music to your favorite speaker system.

The CoolStream Duo is the latest Bluetooth receiver from CoolStream. The CoolStream Duo features two options to plug into your home or car stereo systems.  The first option is to use your speaker’s 30 pin Connector.  You plug into any iPhone docking stations including all Bose SoundDock models, Apple HiFi Dock and iHome clock radio iPhone docks and instantly turn the older speaker into a Bluetooth wireless one.

Option two is to connect to home audio systems, boomboxes and car stereos that have a 3.5mm auxiliary jack.  You can also use this method to play music from your home or car stereo with a 3.5mm Line-In Jack.  The Duo actually has a rechargeable battery inside.  The battery gets charged up when you dock it on a 30-pin powered device.  You’d connect one end of the AUX cable into the line out port on the Duo and the other into your car’s AUX port.  Once the power to the Duo is turned on you’ll be able to pair it to your Bluetooth device and then begin wirelessly streaming music to your car’s speakers.  I found this old zip-up style speaker laying around.  Normally it would require I leave my iPhone inside attached to it in order to play music.  With the Duo I turned it into a Bluetooth speaker in a snap.

If you’ve got some older speakers that use the now outdated Apple 30-pin connector sitting at home you can turn them into Bluetooth wireless speakers with the CoolStream Duo.  Not only that, the Duo can make your car’s speakers Bluetooth as well.  All this wireless audio comes at a price that’s affordable too making the CoolStream Duo a wise choice for anyone looking for Bluetooth audio without having to invest in all new hardware.
