AMD Radeon Pro 5600M GPU Finally Releases Inside New MacBook Pro

The mobile version of the AMD Radeon Pro 5600 is at last available to buy. Indirectly, naturally, as AMD today confirmed the immediate availability of the Radeon Pro 5600M inside Apple’s newest 16-inch MacBook Pro. The GPU should bring us to a completely new level of portable productivity, seeing how its notebook refresh did not really sacrifice too much.

As per usual, you can expect slightly lower clock speeds and a similarly negligible reduction in sustained performance peaks. Neither of which should make too much of a difference, unless you often find yourself editing and rendering hours of high-resolution footage all at once. That is the power of the 7nm process used by the AMD Radeon Pro 5600M GPU, and Apple’s flagship laptop certainly won’t be the only device to benefit from this powerhouse.

Overall, this is a pretty meaningful upgrade over the Radeon Pro 5500M, especially given the minuscule price difference between the two. Then again, we are still talking about a product that will likely set most of its owners back over $4,000.

So, a no-compromise performance tier is the least of what could be expected from AMD’s newest portable flagship GPU, even if this one took a while to release after its desktop sibling was announced at the turn of the year.
