Review: TRU Protection HD Anti-Glare Screen Protector Set

Installation a screen protector onto an iPhone 5 is a challenge for some.  Most often you end up with bubbles underneath or a poorly aligned install.  It’s therefore no surprise that several companies have made an effort to make this process easier by developing tools to assist you with installing their screen shield.  TRU Protection makes screen protectors for a wide variety of mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Blackberry etc.)  Each 2-pack of screen protectors comes along with a special applicator so that the process of installing one is easy.

How does the TRU Protection screen shield applicator work?

Read on through for my full review and find out.

Inside the packaging you’ll find 2 screen protectors along instructions, a microfiber cloth and some extra adhesive tape.  The tape is to be used along with the applicator, which is actually attached to the packaging.

Here’s what TRU Protection  has to say about the HD Anti-Glare Screen Protector Set.

Tru Protection has Apple iPhone5 HD Anti-Glare Screen Protectors! Minimize glare and protect your device from fingerprints, smudges, dust and scratches.

Innovative static cling adhesive is easy to install. Made of high-grade material with cutting edge technology, Tru Film provides a precision die-cut fit. Protect your Apple iPhone5. Play it Safe.

  • Set includes 2 HD Anti-Glare front films
  • Compatible with Retina Display
  • Advanced static cling adhesion allows for easy installation
  • Anti-Glare film finish reduces glare and fingerprints
  • Precision die-cut film ensures exact fit
  • Film can be easily removed without leaving any residue

Just like any other screen shield install, applicator or not, the most important part of the process is to make sure the screen of your iPhone 5 is 100% free and clear of any dust.  You can use the microfiber cloth TRU includes or scotch tape.  Lately I’ve been using older iPhone screen shields to assist me in the process.

Once your screen is ready to go remove the backing to the adhesive strips located inside the applicator.  Then place a single screen shield onto the applicator taking care to line up the cutouts for the home button and earpiece.  The protective layer with the tab pull should be facing up.

When you are all ready, remove the tab and expose the adhesive side of the screen protector.  With the screen shield in place inside the applicator lay your phone inside the tray and press down.

Carefully lift your phone out of the applicator.  Doing so will remove the protective layer from the screen protector, leaving it behind inside the tray.

If everything goes as planned what you’re left with is a perfectly aligned screen protector.
