More Nokia Smartphones Coming To The U.S. Backed By $230 Million

Way more Android smartphones from the rejuvenated Nokia brand are on their way to the United States. The current holder of the Nokia mobile license, HMD Global, announced this encouraging piece of news earlier today, revealing that it even secured a fresh $230 million investment to finance its growing ambitions across the world.

The U.S. has been the largest flagship market since pretty much the invention of what we consider to be a modern smartphone, and it is basically a given that HMD Global will prioritize more expensive devices in this expansion. Which is not to say there will be no budget-friendly options to choose from. Pretty much every market segment should benefit from this move eventually given how limited the current stateside selection of Nokia Android smartphones is. Besides American consumers, Nokia fans in at least a couple of other emerging markets can expect to benefit from this funding round, as well, HMD Global has announced.

As for the interested parties backing this expansion, the most high-profile names behind the investment are Google, Qualcomm, and even Nokia Corp. itself. That would be the “real,” Finnish Nokia which licensed out its mobile brand to HMD Global back in 2016. So, exciting times are ahead for smartphone users in the U.S.
