Powerful Laptops Trending With Day Traders In 2020

Trading software needs powerful internals to run, especially for long hours. We’ve focused on machines that won’t let you as a trader down in critical moments. The reliability of these machines, coupled with their speed and battery life will become something you’ll take for granted. All the machines below have an adequate amount of RAM, an SSD, and CPUs, leading the charge in 2020. You can also configure most of these machines to your budget and liking.

Secondary criteria included screen quality (including the options of a matte display that’s easier on the eyes for longer periods), and practicality. These laptops fit most of our secondary criteria – but make sure to read our handy descriptions if you want to know their particular strengths.

We like the design and large screen size. Every broker/charting/scanning platform has a web app and 99.9% of them is multi-platform so it doesn’t matter if your mac or pc All modern laptops are more than powerful enough to run broker software along with scanning and charting tools (since most are web and done server-side not locally). All modern laptops should be able to power a few monitors so will work fine as a desktop as well.

We like the light weight and wider use of Windows OS in the trading community.

If you are anything like me, there must be a few specific things that you look for in a trading laptop. Some of the most common are its processing speed, battery life, portability, and affordability. But above all else, I will be looking for a computer whose specs support all the trading software’s that I have or intend to interact within the foreseeable future. And having tested the Acer Aspire 15, I can assure you that it comfortably runs MT4, MetaStock, Ninjatrader, and even eSignal trading software. You do not even need the Graphics card to operate either of these software.

The only downside to this laptop is its LED-lit display that I believe could be better. Plus while the Acer laptop maker claims it can clock 15 hours of battery life, my experience with the laptop places it an average 8 hours of work. But I can’t complain as this is still way commendable for a sub-$1,000 laptop.

The Razer Blade Stealth uses aircraft-grade aluminum, and that means not only is it super durable and very sleek-looking but considering the punch it packs, it’s also relatively lightweight at just under 3 lbs. Taking this slim ultrabook around with you all day won’t be a problem with its 9-hour battery life (I’d say you’d get a decent 7 hours steadily surfing and trading). It’s 13.3” QHD+ display, 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, and 16GB of RAM — all in all, an incredibly powerful laptop that will easily take on any trading software and more.
