Payday 3 Joining the 2023 Tour of Awful Game Launches

Starbreeze Studios after a decade has finally released their anticipated new title, Payday 3. Unfortunately, while we had intended to come out with an earlier release review, we haven’t been able to play the game whatsoever.

Unfortunately, the higher-ups at Starbreeze have decided that Payday 3 join the group of terminally online games at the cost of customers unable to play the game they have paid for, including single-player. The woes of their new title don’t end there, but after sitting in a matchmaking queue for over two hours to play a private game we haven’t got a chance to dive into the details.

Starbreeze has repeatedly gone onto Twitter stating that the server issues are resolved, only for them to almost immediately go down again. The CEO, Tobias Sjögren, has also made a public cookie-cutter statement on his Twitter about their launch days woes stating “We are so sorry that the infrastructure didn’t hold up as expected, and although it’s impossible to prepare for every scenario – we should be able to do better. We work tirelessly until we have restored all services and our players can get back to heisting again without issues!”.

As we go into day 3 without being able to play the game, we’re still excited to see what the developers have been hard at work on. I am sure it is heartbreaking to work on a game for so long only for it to be immediately, but justifiably criticized due to server issues.

Ideally, the game is phenomenal outside of these issues, but we will save that for a more in-depth review once we finally get our hands on the title. As for now, Payday 3 has surely had a promising start!
