The DDPAI Dash Cam 4k review

If you want to protect yourself from road rage, traffic tickets, insurance fraud, and other problems you might encounter while on the road, then the DDPAI Dash Cam 4k might be a good choice.  A dash cam can save you by capturing the evidence as to whose fault it is if you are involved in an accident, fraud, or bad drivers.

The DDPAI Dash comes with its own 64G EMMC storage, so it is unnecessary to purchase memory separately like most dash cams.  The flattened cylinder dash cam is a little over 4 inches long, around an inch and a half deep, and less than an inch thick but delivers.  The 4K UHD camera with a 140-degree field of view is one of its best features.

The dash cam is equipped with the latest generation of SONY IMX415 image sensor and can capture more image quality than you would expect, including road signs, billboards, storefronts, and license plates.

The 5GHz High-Speed Wi-Fi + eMMC lets you retrieve downloads (Type-C port) and view replays much faster than other dashcams.  The dash cam has a built-in loop recording function, so you won’t miss a recording because if your storage is full, the dash cam will continue to overwrite the oldest video in favor of a more recent one.  But also remember that if the storage becomes corrupt or fails, you must buy another dash cam.

You can easily remove the dash cam, and it’s small enough to fit in a purse or pocket if you are uncomfortable leaving it mounted in your car, and it can be quickly reinstalled when you get back into your vehicle.

The design and features of the DDPAI dash cam

  • Easy mounting with a self-adhesive (semi-permanent) cage or holder that the camera body slides into
  • Quickly attach the Type-A-to-Type-C USB power cable, or an aux adapter is included
  • 64G EMMC of internal storage (approximately 15,000 hours)
  • GPS
  • Parking Mode
  • G-Sensor

The DDPAI app will allow you to tweak all of the settings, such as g-sensor, GPS, volume, audio, etc., and an installation guide, and it connects to Wi-Fi via your phone’s settings.

The parking mode required the camera to have constant power.  So, you will also need the dashcam hardwire kit for the 24H parking monitor for this feature.

Performance

Both day and night recordings worked well, with color and plenty of detail.  Sometimes, during peak daylight, the video seemed slightly overexposed, but you can adjust those settings to improve the video.  The integrated GPS will allow you to pinpoint locations during your travels.

Great video day or night
