Review: Red Panda Bamboo Cases For the iPhone 5

Red Panda isn’t a company I’d heard of before they reached out to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some of their iPhone 5 cases.  However, after spending some time with some of their cases, it’s a company I’m aware of now having been impressed with their offerings.  The Red Panda cases feature a soft touch interior snap on the back shell that has a hand formed Bamboo insert on the back.  While you could opt for a plain piece of bamboo for your case, what’s really cool are the company’s laser engraved offerings.  If you want to get even more personal with your iPhone 5 case you can even have Red Panda custom engrave your logo or image on the back of your case for a true of one a kind design.

Inside the packaging, which is a sturdy presentation box, you’ll find the case along with a single microfiber cloth.

Here’s what Red Panda has to say about their iPhone 5 cases.

“Red Panda is a team of innovative people who love putting timeless artwork on a variety of products. We are devoted and work tirelessly in order to bring elegance and current crisp artwork. Our passion for art is what motivates our imagination. Our products are uniquely designed to protect and adorn.

About This Case

Made out of durable plastic for protection with layer of handcrafted bamboo on the back.”

There are more than 30 different designs from which to choose from.  In addition to creating me a custom case with the Run Around Tech logo on it, Red Panda also sent along the Garden and the Sham designs.

These cases feature a bamboo back which covers a snap on the back style case.

The inside of each case is coated in soft touch material to help keep your phone’s finish safe.  You can choose white or black for your case.

To place your phone inside the case simply lay it into the case, button side first, and then snap the opposite side in.  You don’t get much in the way of lay on the table protection with this case so if you’re concerned about scratching be sure to use a screen shield.

Once installed the case yields full access to all of the iPhone 5’s ports and controls.  The top, bottom and sides are all exposed for easy access.

A key hole cutout on the back of the case gives freedom to the iPhone 5’s rear facing camera, secondary microphone and LED flash.  Whatever design you choose for the back of the case know this.  It’s not painted or stamped on.  It’s actually laser engraved and it looks great.  This process results in extra fine detail which stands out.

The Red Panda cases are extremely lightweight thanks to their handcrafted bamboo insert.  The laser engraving process results in a finished image that really pops.  These cases are almost as much a work of art as they are protection for your iPhone 5.
